Women and Minorities in Engineering

K-12 Outreach

We have several programs available for young students to encourage them to learn about the different engineering fields and majors.

SMEC
Saturday Morning Engineering Club

The Saturday Morning Engineering Club is a hands-on program through which girls in the 4th-6th grades learn about engineering principles and participate in a math enrichment class. The instructors and mentors are all female engineering and science students from Colorado State University. The program lasts for 8 Saturdays from 8:15 AM to 12:00 PM during the fall semester of every year.

The program is sponsored by the Xcel Energy Foundation. The goal of the Xcel Energy Foundation is to use our collective knowledge, resources, and skills to meet the needs of our communities, and to ensure that Xcel Energy's service area is a highly desirable place for all citizens to live, work, or own a business.

Seema

The Xcel Energy Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of education, building stronger communities, and arts and culture.
