Full Quota

Here are some ideas to reduce your disk space if you are close to your file quota.

Firefox Cache

One of the things that will take up a lot of disk space is your Firefox cache. To make sure this doesn't happen:

  • In Firefox, go to Edit, Preferences, click on the Advanced tab, and then select Network tab. Under "Offline Storage" put 0 for MB space for cache.

Other things to look for:

  • Remember that engineering accounts are for academic purposes. It is not for MP3's, movies, humor programs, etc. Items of this kind can be burned to a CD if you need to retain them.

How do I increase my quota?

  • For Students:
Each student is allocated 6GB of disk space. Students who need more space should have their professor contact ENS and state the reasoning for more disk space. ENS will inform both the student and the professor when and if the disk space is increased.
  • For Faculty/Staff:
Faculty/Staff are allocated 10GB of disk space. If you need additional space, the charges are listed on the Project File Space page.
To rent disk space, please send an email to ENS with the amount of disk space required, the duration for which it is required and the account number to which it can be charged.

Check your quota and account information here.
