Course Listserv Instructions and Information

NOTE - Please read everything below before continuing with the subscription procedure.

To subscribe to a Listserv (automated e-mail distribution list) for a course (e.g., MECH102):

  1. Go to http://www.colostate.edu/services/acns/listserv/listserv.html
  2. When the Mailing Lists (listserv) page appears, select Subscribe to a course-related listserv.
  3. Select the appropriate course list name (e.g., MECH102-L) in the Choose a mailing list box.
  4. Enter your main e-mail address, from which you want to send and receive Listserv messages (see below). Be very careful entering your e-mail address and make sure it is correct and complete. Also, make sure you use a stable address with ample mailbox space on a server that accepts listserv messages with attahcments (e.g., your "@engr.colostate.edu" or "@colostate.edu" e-mail address). You will be automatically deleted from the list if any errors with your e-mail account occur during the semester. If this occurs you will need to sign up again to continue to receive messages.
  5. Enter your full name.
  6. Click on the Submit Query button.
When you have completed the procedure above, your e-mail address will be included in the course Listserv distribution list.  Any messages sent to the Listserv address will be automatically sent to all members of the Listserv (the instructor and all students that have subscribed).  The address for the Listserv is the course list name you selected above (e.g., MECH102-L) followed by "@colostate.edu" (e.g., mech102-L@colostate.edu).

Your instructor will use the Listserv to send messages (general course announcements, answers to student questions, lecture comments, exam hints, job and internship announcements, etc.) to the entire class.  Students can also use the Listserv to share information with the class.  To send a message to the entire class, you must send the message from the e-mail address that you provided when you subscribed, because only Listserv members can send messages to the Listserv.
